Fireworks!

Everyone who reads my blog knows that I think that Boston is the best place to live in the whole wide world so it would be no surprise that I think that the Fourth of July Fireworks are hands down the very best. How I miss watching them from my bedroom because I'm too tired to stay out at any parties these days!

Yet, I was pleasantly surprised by the fireworks in Omaha. On Friday night we went to our Club for the big summer bash (everyone was so drunk that Neal and I called it an adult frat party). We got a babysitter and sent Maggie home early and Sophie stayed up to see the display. It was pretty good. Not the barge on the river of course, but it was nice. Then I started asking around about fireworks on Independence Day itself. People just said to look outside.

Last night rolled around and I was shocked to see at least 20 (yes twenty) different displays going on outside the front of my house! Maybe these people are reasonably patriotic despite thinking that Paul Revere would have said "The British are coming!" For those readers who are not from New England, he would have said "The Regulars are coming!" because they all considered themselves British and they referred to the read coats as "Regulars".

So, Neal and I paused "Pops goes the Fourth" on TiVo and sat outside on our front stoop and watched fireworks, Omaha style. I guess it will do for now.
